New Publication: Chapters on ‘Mother and Motherhood’ and ‘the Interplay of Jewish and Christian Identities’

A new edited collection, exploring ‘Lives, Identities and Histories in the Central Middle Ages’ (ed. Julie Barrau and David Bates), will be published in October 2021 by Cambridge University Press. This includes chapters on Jewish topics by Miri Rubin (Mother and Motherhood in the Vita et passio Willelmi Norwicensis) and Anna Sapir Abulafia (Jacob and Esau and the Interplay of Jewish and Christian Identities in the Middle Ages).

About Dean A. Irwin

I completed my PhD (2017-20) at Canterbury Christ Church University where I studied the records generated by Jewish moneylending activities in England between 1194 and 1276. I am now an independent scholar, interested in the records (especially charters and financial documents) produced by, and in relation to, medieval Anglo-Jewry. I am also developing a project on the Jews and the baronial reform movement (1258-65) in England.
