The Allen and Joan Bildner Center for the Study of Jewish Life at Rutgers University-New Brunswick invites applications for the position of Aresty Visiting Scholar for the 2024-2025 academic year.
In 2024-2025, the Aresty Visiting Scholar is a one-semester (fall or spring) appointment to a recent PhD (earned no earlier than 2018) in fields that correspond to faculty in the Department of Jewish Studies to enhance mentorship and collegiality (see here: https://jewishstudies.rutgers.edu/people/core-faculty).
The post-doctoral scholar will pursue research while at Rutgers. The scholar is expected to be in residence in the university area and to be actively engaged in the intellectual life of the Bildner Center and the Jewish Studies Department. The post-doctoral scholar’s responsibilities may include, inter alia, teaching a 3-session virtual mini-course for the public, giving a faculty seminar, meeting with students, and participating in other forums to contribute to the Department of Jewish Studies and the Bildner Center.
Applicants should apply through the Rutgers University job portal at http://jobs.rutgers.edu/postings/105694. All materials (a cover letter that details the scholar’s research interests; a curriculum vitae; descriptions of two possible mini-courses suitable for the public; two titles for possible faculty seminars; and the names and emails of two academic references, should be included with your application). Materials need to be submitted by February 5, 2024. References will be contacted in mid-February for short-listed candidates, and a decision will be finalized by mid-March 2024.
