Learn Hebrew at UW-Madison this Summer at MEDLI

The Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Language Institute (MEDLI) is an intensive, eight-week language program run each summer at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Students receive the equivalent of one year’s worth of college-level language study during this time and earn eight credits upon completion of the program.

MEDLI offers intensive beginning, intermediate, and advanced language instruction in Arabic, Persian, and Turkish languages, including instruction now in beginning Hebrew this Summer 2023 program! We are so excited to expand our program and watch our students grow along with us.

In addition to the intensive language classes, MEDLI students can participate a full array of cultural activities, including workshops (cooking, art, dance, calligraphy, etc.), a film series, lectures on Middle East Studies and regional topics, conversation clubs, and have access to language tutors and network with other scholars of Middle East Studies. In addition, students are invited to present at a Wisconsin Intensive Summer Language Institutes (WISLI) Student Conference, attend and network at a LCTL Career Fair, and participate in optional community-building events such as weekly MEDLI soccer, board game night, visit the local museum, go to the farmer’s market, roast s’mores at Picnic Point, or enjoy concerts on the lake at Madison’s famous Union Terrace! Undergraduates, graduates, professionals, and non-traditional students are all welcome to apply for MEDLI.

Interested applicants can apply at https://medli.wisc.edu/application/. Applications are reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis.
