Die Bewerberin*der Bewerber vertritt die Geschichte der Materialitäten in Forschung und Lehre. In der Lehre ist die Professur an allen Studiengängen des Historischen Seminars einschließlich der Lehramtsstudiengänge und Promotionsprogramme beteiligt und vertritt hier die mittelalterliche Geschichte.

Erwartet wird unter anderem Engagement in der Lehre und die Bereitschaft zur Kooperation mit Museen, Sammlungen und Institutionen in der Region, insbesondere hinsichtlich des jüdisch-mittelalterlichen Erbes in Erfurt.

Full Professor in Jewish Studies with a Focus on Source History and Cultural History, University of Vienna

This position deals with research and teaching in all essential aspects of the culture, literature, religion and history of Judaism across its entire geographical breadth. A particular focus of this professorship lies on Jewish texts and Jewish cultural history in the context of the rabbinic period (70 to 1000 AD) which is of central importance.

Bildner Visiting Scholar, Rutgers University

The Allen and Joan Bildner Center for the Study of Jewish Life at Rutgers University-New Brunswick invites applications for the position of Bildner Scholar for the 2024-2025 academic year.

In 2024-2025, the Bildner Scholar is a one-semester (fall or spring) appointment to a senior scholar (associate or full professor). The post-doctoral scholar’s responsibilities may include, inter alia, teaching a 3-session virtual mini-course for the public, giving a faculty seminar, meeting with students, and participating in other forums to contribute to the Department of Jewish Studies and the Bildner Center. The scholar is expected to be in residence in the university area and to be actively engaged in the intellectual life of the Bildner Center and the Jewish Studies Department. All materials (a cover letter that details the scholar’s research interests; a curriculum vitae; descriptions of two possible virtual mini-courses suitable for the public; two titles for possible faculty seminars; as well as the names and emails of two academic references, should be included with the application). Materials need to be submitted by February 5, 2024. References will be contacted in mid-February for short-listed candidates, and a decision will be finalized by mid-March 2024.
