We are pleased to announce that the Jewish Studies Program at Cornell University is seeking papers for its inaugural graduate student conference, MAKING SPACE: Peopling and Placing the Matter of Jewish Studies. This graduate-organized conference aims to bring together student research that contributes to interdisciplinary approaches to Jewish studies through the “making of space for new ways of addressing history and giving voice to marginalized and minoritized identities and experiences”. Relevant topics and subfields include critical historiography, ethnography, cultural geography, media studies, material culture studies, and gender and feminist studies. The Call for Papers is available online.

The volume presents the latest archaeological findings on Jewish neighbourhoods, synagogues and cemeteries at European level and provides overviews of important monuments of European Jewish heritage.
A presentation of the book will take place at the Museum of Jewish Art and History in the presence of some of the authors.

Award for Outstanding New Research on Judaism and the History of Science in the Memory of Harry Austry Wolfson
The Association for the Promotion of the Study of the History of Philosophy and Science in Judaism (Verein zur Förderung der Erforschung der Geschichte der Philosophie und Wissenschaften im Judentum e.V. – Berlin/Germany) invites submissions for a competition recognizing outstanding new research on the in- terface between Judaism and the sciences throughout history. This competition will honor two young scholars for their innovative articles (up to sixty pages) exploring topics connected to this field of research. A total sum of 1500 euro will be awarded to the recipients, and their winning articles will be submitted for publication in the peer-reviewed journal Aleph – Historical Studies in Science & Judaism in 2024.
